Troy's Notes
Thursday night, we noticed Sancho was constantly licking his upper left thigh. When we took a closer look, it appeared to be a bad skin abrasion. We figured it would heal itself. This morning, I noticed it had turned into a terribly deep puncture wound; off to an emergency vet appointment.
The vet confirmed that it was a nasty, deep dog bite, but that it fortunately did not tear through to his rectum. Because it is infected, they were unable to suture it up with a Penrose drain today. So he's on an aggressive dosage of antibiotics & painkillers, and due back to the vet on Tuesday. He will then mostly likely undergo the aforementioned procedure.
The vet reviewed the estimate with us, which I was expecting to be outrageous... just not that outrageous. At checkout, we were greeted with another pleasant bill. As we were getting ready to leave, the clerk said, 'You get a free bottle of wine for this visit. Do you prefer red or white?' I was honestly speechless at that point.
