After work, I received a call from my tenants that their garage door wouldn't open and they needed access by tomorrow morning. It's a strange garage, in that there is zero access to the inside except through the main garage door. There's no side door, there's no manual way to open it from the front -- if the automatic opener fails, you're screwed. There is a (sealed and locked) doggy door, however. Long story short, we busted our way through the doggy door, pulled the manual release, accidentally derailed the garage door, thought we snapped the tension cable, tripped the breakers, tried everything we could think of to get the thing working, all to no avail; I was resigned to calling 'the garage door man'. As I was getting ready to leave, I glanced up, only to notice that the power cable to the garage door opener was unplugged. (Photo is not of the garage door opener in question, but rather, a recreation of actual events.)
